Round 1 — The Problem

You used to be the fit one.

Work took over. Family took over. The gym membership is still being paid for, you just stopped going. Apps and YouTube workouts do not stick because nothing is pushing back at you. Boxing does.

No.1

No accountability

Training alone is easy to skip. A coach who knows your name is not.

No.2

No real challenge

Treadmills do not test you. Pads, bags and footwork drills do, every single round.

No.3

No outlet

Stress from work and life needs somewhere to go. Boxing gives it one.

Round 2 — The Program

Pick the way you want to train.

Three ways in. Most clients start with the Monthly Block once they feel what proper coaching does.

Round 3 — Proof It Works

Results, not promises.

From amateur club fighters to clients training for themselves, the same coaching standard applies to everyone who steps in.

Ahmed The Black Assassin
Ahmed — The Black Assassin
Professional Boxer

His knowledge of boxing is second to none, and he has a great way of explaining things that makes learning easy. He always pushed me to improve, work harder and reach higher standards every session. My time at Mint Boxing played an important role in my development as a professional boxer.

Laura Doc

Client — 3 years training

I've tried every sort of training and different gyms to find something that keeps me fit but that I also enjoy. From my first session to 3 years down the line I'm still training with Gary. This is where I see the best results — mentally and physically. Gary always pushes you to your limits.

Jonathan McManus
Jonathan McManus
Client — 3 years training

My confidence improved massively. My overall conditioning changed for the better — I felt physically and mentally strong, my cardiovascular fitness improved dramatically and body fat decreased significantly. Gary is an awesome guy but an even greater coach. Don't hesitate — contact Gary and you will be so glad you did.

Scott Lees

Client

What changed for me is my mindset. Once I started training with Mint Boxing I became a calmer person rather than being stressed out with work and day-to-day life. My boxing knowledge also grew — Gary spotted things in my style he could work on and made sure every goal we set was achieved.

Round 4 — The Coach

Coached by someone who has lived it.

Gary Murray — Mint Boxing Coach

Gary Murray, known to clients as Gary the Mint, is a former professional boxer from Lanarkshire. His career ended after a serious head injury, and he had to rebuild his life from there. Over 20 months sober, he found his energy, his focus and his purpose again, and built Mint Boxing on that same rebuild.

He coaches out of Shettleston Boxing Club in Glasgow and volunteers with the amateur team there. From September 2026 he is relocating Mint Boxing to La Zenia, Spain, to be present for his son's early school years while continuing to coach.

Questions — Common Ones

FAQ

Do I need any boxing experience?

None at all. Most clients come with zero background. Gary builds technique from the ground up — footwork, guard, combination work — at a pace that suits you. Total beginners are welcome.

What happens in the first session?

Gary assesses where you are physically and technically, talks through what you want from your training, and gets you moving. No fitness test, no embarrassment. Just the beginning.

Will I get punched?

No. Coaching sessions focus on pad work, bag work, footwork drills and conditioning. You won't spar unless you specifically want to — and that's only once you're ready.

Where is the gym?

Shettleston Boxing Club, Glasgow. From September 2026, Gary relocates to La Zenia, Spain (Orihuela Costa). Online coaching is also available for clients outside Glasgow.

How quickly will I see results?

Most clients notice something in the first two or three sessions — better movement, sharper reactions, a clearer head after training. Physical changes follow from there. Consistency is the variable.

Can I try a session before committing to a block?

Yes. Pay As You Go is £40 per session — no commitment, no contract. Most clients who try it come back for the Monthly Block once they feel how coaching actually works.
